The power of friendship

April 15

“Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?”  Amos 3:3

A C.E.O. once said to a group of entrepreneurs, “Take my advice.  Hire the best person for the job and save yourself a lot of headache.”  Paul puts it this way, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.”  2 Corinthians 6:14.

You cannot successfully partner with someone who does not share your vision, your belief, values, and your goals.  This goes for business, marriage, and even friendships. It is said: “A wise man chooses his friends with care, but a fool takes them haphazardly or on mere ‘liking.’”  The power of friendship is great, for good or for evil, for pleasure or for pain.

Without agreement, your union will be disunion; your issues will be quarrels; and your challenges will be channels for destruction. Choose your friends and partners carefully, walk in love, and make sure you are all heading in the same direction.

Jesus was a master at controlling His world, environment, His disciples, and friends.  He did not choose perfect people. He chose instead those who would believe in Him, agree with His mission, and volunteered to walk and serve with Him.  Judas, who betrayed Him, was chosen by God who knew his heart for His ultimate plan. Jesus chose His disciples before they chose Him.

Rule your world by the power of your choices.  God cares about your relationships.  Pray and He will set you in a “wealthy place” of meaningful, trustworthy, and loving relationships.
