“This, then is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.’” Matthew 6: 9.
God is a covenant God and His plan for us is based on relationship. Christianity is a religion that is based on relationship with God and God’s family.
1) God is our Savior. Jesus Christ is our Savior. As our Savior Jesus becomes our God who forgives us of all our sins, show us mercy when we fail, help us when we are weak, and keep us in right relationship with God. “Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Luke 1:46-47.
2) God is our Father. Jesus told us to call God our Heavenly Father. God is personable, approachable, and loveable. We respect Him, honor Him, and glorify Him. As our Heavenly Father, He is committed to our provision, protection, and preservation. We have a loving Father who loves each of us personally, knows each of us by name, and provides for our daily needs.
3) God is our Holy Spirit. This amplified version of the Bible describes the Holy Spirit as, “The Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name (in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf), He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.” John 14:26
Jesus told us to pray to the Father and address Him as your Heavenly Father. God is our King and Lord, yet when we call Him Father, we know that we are appealing to His tender mercy and unconditional love. Today rest in your Heavenly Father’s love and bless His holy name.
My God Almighty is my Heavenly Father, Savior, and Holy Spirit my Source of strength and power.
