Praise the Lord

March 10

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1.

Praising God is a choice and should not depend on your feelings.  When you praise God, He is exalted in your heart and diminishes your trials.  We have many reasons to praise God always.

“If you woke up this morning, you’re ahead of the 1 million people who didn’t survive the week.  If you can sit down, read the paper, and drink a cup of coffee, you’re better off than the 500 million men, women, and children around the world who are presently experiencing the horrors of war, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, and the pangs of starvation.  If you can attend church without threat, you’ve a freedom envied by 2 billion others who have never been inside one.  If you have food, clothes and a roof over your head, you’re richer than 75% of the earth’s inhabitants.  If you’ve money in the bank, you’re among the world’s top 8%.  If you’ve a Bible, you’re better off than the 1.5 billion people who have never seen one.  If you can read this devotional, you’re ahead of the one-third of the people on the planet who are illiterate.”

Life might not be as bad as you think in comparison to most people in our world. Throughout the Bible we read of examples of the power of praise: King Jehoshaphat and his nation was preserved by the power of praise; the wall of Jericho was crumbled by the power of praise;  blind men praised Jesus and received sight; desperate women praised Jesus and received healing.

Praise the Lord.  Allow the spirit of gratitude to flood your soul and receive God’s grace and blessing.

Kingdom Declaration:

I bless the Lord with a heart of gratitude for He is worthy to be praised.

Abraham’s Blessing

March 9

I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”  Genesis 12:2,3.

God took Abraham from a heritage of idol worship. He found in Abraham a heart that was seeking for truth. They entered in a covenant relationship that included blessing, protection, greatness and prosperity for eternal legacy.  God’s covenant with Abraham included you. Abraham’s blessing is now rightfully yours in Christ.  “He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”  Galatians 3:14. When you receive the Spirit of Christ, you receive His Spirit of love, power, anointing and glory.

To maximize your great potential, you must:

1) Grow in Christ by meditating on God’s Word.

2) Respond in prompt obedience to God.

3) Take practical steps to nurture His gifts and talents within you.

4) Surround yourself with people who recognize and encourage you.

As you take these steps, you will strengthen the foundation you need for greater opportunities.

When you read God’s promise to Abraham read it as if He is talking to you.  God has promised you blessings, great influence, protection, defense, and great provision.  Abraham believed God and by his faith, God’s promises became his reality.  Now as you believe God the blessing of Abraham will manifest in your life.  Believe, confess, and receive.

Kingdom Declaration:

I believe and receive the blessing of Abraham in all areas of my life.

Blessed to be a Blessing

March 8

“It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.  He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.  He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.  You give me your shield of victory; you stoop down to make me great.”  2 Samuel 22:33-36.

David in his song of praise gave us insight into the secret of his success – God!  He was a God-made man, not a self-made man.  He honored God and God honored him.  He was a blessing to God and God was a blessing to him.  Notice that God doe not just bless us to make us happy but He blesses us so that we can bless others and join Him in His mission to make our world a better place.

King David’s early life: “He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens, from tending the sheep he brought him to be the shepherd (and King) of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance.”  Psalm 78:70,71. From a shepherd to King of Israel was a huge promotion. God found a faithful heart to experience the great faithfulness of God, and He maximized David into greatness.

Do not limit yourself in God.  He can do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine.  He wants to bless you so that you can be a blessing to Him and others.  He wants to honor you so that you can honor Him.  When you serve Him, He serves you.  Enter His cycle of blessings and be blessed to be a blessing.

Kingdom Declaration:

I am blessed to be a blessing to God and others.

A Personal Altar

March 7

“In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning, I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” Psalm 5:3.

A Personal Altar as the name implies is a personal meeting with God, one-to-one, for prayer and worship. At the altar there is cleansing, meditation on God’s word, sharing heart, instructions, and receiving fresh strength and anointing.  It is your secret place where you will be undisturbed and find it easier to focus and honor the presence of God.  For some who work in shifts, it is a daily meeting with God whenever and wherever it is convenient.  Your Personal Altar is exclusively yours for communion, intimacy, and fellowship in privacy with your King of Glory.

To create A Personal Altar

1) Plan a regular meeting time with God. “In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” Psalm 5:3.

2) Start with worship. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4.

3) Be cleansed.  Cleanse yourself with the blood of Jesus and confess known and unknown sins in thoughts, words, and deeds.  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

4) Meditate on Scriptures. Read and listen. God hears you and speaks to you. “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” Psalm 119:18.

5) Pray for yourself and others. “From the LORD comes deliverance.  May your blessing be on your people.” Psalm 3:8.

6) Be Empowered.  Receive fresh strength for each day.  “The LORD is the strength of his people,

a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.” Psalm 28:8.

7) End with thanksgiving. “I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.” Psalm 69:30. Thanksgiving honors and pleases the LORD.

Kingdom Declaration:

My heart is an Altar for Jesus Christ. He is my Hiding Place.

God’s Glorious Family

March 6

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them.  God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.  Rule over the fish of the sea and birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”  Genesis 1:27,28.

God is the creator of all things – planets, plants, animals, and mankind.  Of all the creatures that God created, only one was created in His image and with a Divine, eternal purpose.

Mankind was made in the image of our Creator:

1) To Reflect God

Having made you in His image, His reflection must be seen in you by the people around you. Your lifestyle must point others to Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

2) To Represent God

You are His ambassador.  Wherever you are, wherever you go, and whatever you do, God’s Presence and His principles must be represented.  God wants to love, give, forgive, help, bless through you.  God’s expression of His greatness and glory can be seen in and through you.

3) To Reproduce for God

You are made to reproduce for God both in the natural and in the spiritual.  When God made Adam and Eve, He had a family with trillions in mind – a family that He would call His very own – the family of God. As a member of God’s spiritual family, you can reproduce for God by sharing the good news of His saving grace with your family, friends, and peers.  All people are invited to be a part of the family of God. The response to, “How can I be saved?” is, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.” Acts 16:31. The reproduction continues as we save others to save others for a glorious family of God.

Kingdom Declaration:

I am made in the image and likeness of God to be His representative of love and power in our world.

A higher consciousness

March 5

“Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.  Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all this benefits.”  Psalms 103:1,2.

David commanded himself to praise the Lord.  He commanded His soul to praise the Lord.  Your soul is made up of your mind (intellect, thought process, memory); your will (gives you freedom of choice); your emotions (feelings) and your conscience (your inner police that makes you know right from wrong).

When your soul assumes an attitude of praise, your mind is protected from mental attacks; your will is protected from surrendering to temptation; your emotions are shielded from being vulnerable to negative stimulation and control, and your conscience is strengthened to resist wrongful behavior and traps.

Notice that David did not ask God to bless his soul but for his soul to bless God.  Everyone loves to be praised.  Children playing in sports look to parents to praise them.  To hear praises from parents can make children try harder and is more powerful that negative input.  Workers are inspired when their supervisors praise them.  Everyone is inspired by praise.  Praise is powerful.

Imagine how powerful praising God can be as it lifts you to a higher consciousness where evil is diminished, God is exalted, and your desires are all possible.  Praise is the anecdote for depressive thoughts.  Praise destroys discouragement.  Praise elevates God in your mind and diminishes the greatness of your problem.  Praise takes you into the place of faith where your miracle will be achieved.  Praise the Lord!

Kingdom Declaration:

I praise the Lord, my God, my Rock, my Redeemer, my Provider, and my Protector.

Keys to prosperity

March 4

“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”  Psalm 1:1-3.

Guaranteed prosperity is promised in three ways:

1) Have the right peers, friends, and influence around you.

There is a saying, “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.”  Bless is the person who chooses their relationships carefully and accept and treasure good relationships as gifts from God.

2) Delight yourself in God’s word.

The word of God contains the keys to continuous and eternal success.  God’s word is food for your soul, inspiration for your heart and strength for your mind.  Through His word, you will receive guidance, correction, encouragement, and revelation.  His word will speak to you as you read the Bible.  It will speak quietly to your mind when you are quiet enough to listen.

3)  Plant yourself where your destiny will be fulfilled.

Notice the word ‘plant’.  Know where God has called you and stay there.  Embed yourself in a soil that God is blessing.  When you are correctly connected, you will be rightly released into your destiny.  Proper alignment will cause you greater mobility.  In the right environment, you will flourish and learn how to prosper continually.  Make sure that you are in a God-filled fellowship, surrounded by God-fearing people, and you will have the help you need to achieve what God has for you.  Surround yourself with praying, helping, skilled, and loving people.

In this way, God’s promise to you is, “Whatever you do will prosper.”

Kingdom Declaration:

I believe and declare the word of the Lord: “The fruit of my womb and the work of my hands will prosper.”

Sow the right seeds

March 3

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked.  A man reaps what he sows.” (Gal. 6:7).

This is power of forward planning and ‘paying it forward’.  God uses the laws of nature to show us a principle of successful planning.  If you begin to sow the right seeds now, you will be guaranteed the right harvest tomorrow.  When you ‘sow’ in obedience to God you will reap His rewards; when you sow in faith you will reap His miracles; when you sow good you will reap great kindness.

There is power in a seed.  Farmers and gardeners use the power of a seed to grow great harvest every year and to feed millions.  A grape seed, tiny as it is, is so powerful that it contains all the DNA information and power to grow future generations of grapes.  From one seed a forest can grow and last for generations.  A seed has intrinsic power to reproduce after its own kind without man’s help and for generations. This gives us a glimpse of how amazingly intelligent God our Creator is.  God is awesome in His greatness and glory.

Begin to dream of your harvest and begin to sow accordingly.  Sow for a great harvest with lasting rewards.  When you pray, you will receive divine favor, but only sowing will make you reap a divine harvest, ‘A man reaps what he sows!’  Albert Einstein said: “A life lived for others, is the only life worth living.”

Seize the opportunity today to sow the right seeds.  Give, love, care, serve, forgive, and then declare, ‘My harvest is on its way!’

Kingdom Declaration:

My harvest of goodness and miracles are on its way.

God is greater than our failures

March 2

“Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat, But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail.  And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”  Luke 22:31-32.

What an encouragement to know that God is aware of everything in your life before it happens.  God knows all about your past, He is with you now presently and knows all about your future.  That is why you can trust Him with your life and be confident in His keeping power.

When you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, He goes before you to prepare your way, light your path, and preserve your destiny. God is so confident in His keeping power and control of your future that He warned Peter about his failure and restoration at the same time.  Peter in spite his failure would play a major role in the developing and establishing the Church of Jesus Christ.  If God is in control of your life, He has already made allowances for your mistakes so don’t be afraid to try again.  Learn from your mistakes and get back in the game of life.

God has already gone ahead of you and touched the heart of those you have failed.  Forgive those who failed you and go forward.  In every area of life, before you get there, God is already there.  Peter became one of the great Foundational Apostles who were used by God to establish His Church.  He wrote books of the Bible that have been used by billions of people for hope, encouragement, and assurance that it is never too late for another chance in life.  Remember that God is with you, for you and goes before you.

Kingdom Declaration:

I am confident that my God is with me, for me and goes before me to make all crooked paths straight.

The Power of the Cross

March 1

“Two robbers were crucified with Jesus one on his right and one on his left.  Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, ‘you who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself!  Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”  Matthew 27:38-40.

They didn’t understand Him and so they misjudged Him.  They despised His salvation so they ignored Him.  They didn’t believe in Him so they crucified Him.  The temple that He would destroy and rebuild was not a physical one.  His Kingdom is spiritual and not physical.  He would not save Himself because He came to save the world.  He remained on the cross until all sins and sicknesses were laid on Him.  When it was all over He cried, “It is finished,” and died. The cross is the key to our freedom, power, and relationship with God.

A crowd of University students was coming home from an evening of pleasure.  Their drunken leader noticed on the steeple of a church a cross that was illuminated by the moonlight, and shouted, “Ye mathematicians, look at God’s plus sign.”  One of the students could not sleep that night.  Toward morning, he stepped into the leader’s room and told him that the vision of the cross as God’s plus sign had made him decide to uphold that cross as the symbol of God’s abundant love for mankind.  Seven other university men very soon took the same step.

What does the cross mean to you?  The cross is our plus sign.  Jesus turned our minus into plus.  The cross demonstrates both the power and the love of God.  By His power in one act Jesus dealt a destructive blow to Satan and all his works of evil; by His love He saved mankind from the sins of the world.  By His power, He conquered death, hell, and sin; by His love, He purchased for His believers all the freedom, victory, blessings and glory that we could ever contain.

Because of the cross, you can now partake of the riches of His glory that was prepared in advance for you.  Because of the cross, He will glorify you that you might become the praise of His glory.  Because of the cross, we say: “Amen” to the angel’s declaration: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”  Isaiah 6:3.

Kingdom Declaration:

The cross of Jesus Christ is my weapon against all temptations, failures, and sickness.  I have victory because of the cross.
