Don’t Give Up

February 26

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8.

Discouragement is a great weapon of destruction to dreams. When a project fails, that does not make YOU a failure – ‘It’ failed but YOU can try again. Ultimate failure is when a person gives up on their dream because of challenges, setbacks, and defeat along the way.

Dr. Samuel Langley was a brilliant scientist who wrote volumes on airplane and flight. He tried to fly his first plane, it crashed, and the press labeled it “a ridiculous fiasco.” Two months later he tried again, the plane plunged upside-down into a river, and the pilot almost drowned. The New York Times labeled it “Langley’s Folly,” and told him to give it up. He did!

Nine days later Orville and Wilbur Wright, two bicycle mechanics, with no formal education and nor funds, flew their plane. They refuse to give up after many failures and much ridicule. Sadly, the world today knows of the Wright brothers who were credited with building the world’s first successful airplane and making the first controlled, powered, and sustained heavier-than-air human flight. Not many people know about Langley.

It is not how you start but how you finished. Your finish is your choice. Faith in God and faith in yourself will determine the outcome of your perseverance. “If at first you don’t succeed, try, and try again.” Don’t give up; don’t give in to the enemy’s plot of discouragement; don’t give over your dream to the list of “if only”. Try again.

Kingdom Declaration:

God is with me as my Source of encouragement and strength. I will not give up.

Our Sovereign Peace

February 25

“But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands”. Psalm 31:14-15.

In quiet confidence, God remains our Sovereign Peace. Peter Marshall was a passionate preacher, historian, and pastor who influenced the lives of millions. He died suddenly on the morning of January 25, 1949 at the age of 46. In one of his sermons he said: “When the clock strikes for me, I shall go, not one minute early and not one minute late. Until then, there is nothing to fear. I know that the promises of God are true, for they have been fulfilled in my life, time and time again. Jesus still teaches and guides and protects and heals and comforts, and still wins our complete trust and our love.”

David lived with this quiet confidence in the Sovereign Peace of God. He wrote: “For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you.” Psalm 71:5-6.

God will keep you, protect you, and provide for you in your journey of life. God will keep you eternally safe. You are safe in the Lord both now and forever.

Kingdom Declaration:

I am confident in God’s power to protect, provide, and preserve me from all that is evil.

Creating New Results

February 24

“A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?” Ecclesiastes 2:24-25.

When Thomas Carlyle completed his manuscript on the French Revolution, he asked his neighbor John Stuart Mill to read it. Later Mill came to Carlyle’s house, shaken and pale. His maid had inadvertently used it to light the fire. Carlyle despaired – two years lost. Writing it initially was daunting enough; rewriting it was unthinkable. Then one day, watching a stonemason build a wall, he observed it was going up one brick at a time. He said to himself, “That’s all I’ll think about.” It was slow, tedious work, but he persevered and the result outshone his original.

It can become overwhelming when you look at the mountain of your ‘to do’ list. However, looking at it and complaining about it won’t help the situation.

God tells us how to deal with mountains:
1) Speak to it. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Mark 11:23.
2) Work through it. “A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God” Eccl 2:24.
3) Pray through it. “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24.

You can’t change your past but you can create your future – one decision, one step of faith, and one act of purpose at a time. Create your result and start your future today with one prayer, one thought, and one action.

Kingdom Declaration:

I have the power of God to speak the word of God to create my world.

The Lord is a sun and shield

February 23

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” Psalm 84:11.

First, “The Lord God is a sun and shield.” He gives light, warmth, energy, and strength even as He protects and defends you. As sun, He lights your way; and as shield, He protects your path. As sun, He energizes you; and as shield, He protects you from ‘burn out’. As sun, He protects you from the dark; and as shield, He preserves you from evil.

Second, “The LORD bestows favor and honor”. Favor is the grace of God that opens door, brings opportunities, and releases goodwill and kindness, even when you feel like you don’t deserve it. Honor is God’s exaltation in your life to prove His presence and power in and through you. “Therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” Psalm 45:7.

Third, “No good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” God promises you everything that you need and all that is good for you. As His light, protection, grace and exaltation works in and through you, you are guaranteed His provision and blessing in every area. Begin to thank Him in advance as He brings every good thing that you need. Be thankful for His loving care and protection today and forever.

Kingdom Declaration:

I thank God for his light, protection, and guaranteed blessings in every area of my life.

Wisdom Testers

February 22

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17.

The wisdom that comes from God is described by seven attributes:
1) Pure. It is without evil inspiration and operations. It is without selfish motives.
2) Peace-loving. The main goal of God’s wisdom is to promote peace and to have peace as its outcome whenever possible.
3) Considerate. It is gentle in its approach, making allowances for others.
4) Submissive. It is not stubborn but willing to listen and respect others viewpoints.
5) Full of mercy and good fruit. It is ready to forgive others and show acts of kindness.
6) Impartial. It deals with others without prejudice and selfishness.
7) Sincere. It can be trusted as truth, without deception and hypocrisy.

Albert Einstein says: “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.” As you make decisions today, remember these seven wisdom testers and you will be guided by God’s wisdom to rule your world with His peace and for your ultimate peace.

Kingdom Declaration:

May God’s spirit of wisdom infuse my soul, renew my mind, and preserve my heart.

God’s Elite Army

February 21

“A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all.” Psalm 34:19.

Great heroes known for their bravery and skill are usually chosen for difficult feats that could determine the fate of a person, a family, and a nation. They consider it an honor to be chosen for dangerous missions.

The Canadian Special Operations Forces has high-level elite teams of highly trained combat specialists in government military and security campaigns. These teams go through rigorous training over many months before they are deployed into high level security operations. During training, they are pushed to the limit both mentally and physically to weed out those who would not be successful in a demanding operation and mission. God also has an Elite Army of Special Forces to fight evil forces in spiritual warfare.

Tips in Spiritual warfare:
1) Do not fight aimlessly but strategically. “Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.” 1 Cor 9:26.
2) Do not fight in the flesh but with spiritual weapons. “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 2 Cor 10:4.
3) Fight with the end in mind. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Tim 4:7.
4) Remember you are not alone. “For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” Deut 20:4.

Kingdom Declaration:

God is with me, to fight for me against all my enemies, and give me victory.

Be your best

February 20

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” 2 Corinthians 2:14.

Life is not always fair, bad things happen to good people. There are no reasons nor formula for the unavoidable and uncontrollable experiences that we sometimes face. What we can control, however, is our attitude and determination to outlive and outlast our enemies.

Sometimes God allows us to go through circumstances for the opportunity to qualify us for the “Overcomers Hall of Fame.” Albert Einstein was written off by his educators as a slow learner and mentally challenged; Joni Erickson, a quadriplegic, became a radio host, author, artist and powerful motivational speaker; John Bunyan, author of Pilgrim’s Progress, was imprisoned because of his passionate faith; Franklin Roosevelt, the 32nd President of America contracted polio and was paralyzed for the rest of his life. He was the only President in a wheel chair and elected for more than two terms. Helen Keller, at the age of 19 months, suddenly lost her hearing and vision. Against overwhelming odds and with passion and persistence she graduated college with highest honors and impacted her world. We cannot always control our circumstances but we can do what we can, use what we have, and be the best that we can. The power is “choice”.

See life as a gift and negatives as opportunities to overcome and to prove that God in you is greater than whatever, whomever and wherever. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ rise upon as you take care of yourself, serve God, and be your best in your world.

Kingdom Declaration:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

You are God’s workmanship

February 19

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10.

The word ‘workmanship’ means the degree of skill with which a product is made or a job done. To be God’s workmanship means that you are made to be YOU, and with all that you need to fulfill your destiny. As God’s workmanship He has promised to: ‘make your load lighter’ (Ex 18:22); make you fruitful (Gen 17:6); make you increase (Gen 28;3); ‘make you prosper’ (Gen 32:9); ‘make all your enemies turn their backs and run (Ex 23:27); and to ‘make you great’ (Ps 18:35).

French scientist Louis Pasteur was born to have influence in the sphere of health, and medicine. The timing of his life was strategically decided by God. Purpose is connected to timing and training so he lived at a time when thousands of people died of rabies each year. He worked day and night on a vaccine that could save them. Just as he was about to begin experimenting on himself, a nine-year old boy called Joseph Meister was bitten by a rabid dog. The boy’s mother begged Pasteur to experiment on her son. Pasteur injected him for ten days and the boy lived. Decades later, of all the things that Pasteur could have etched on his headstone, he asked only for three words: “Joseph Meister Lived!” Louis Pasteur was gifted by God with all the gifts and preservation to be a great scientist.

You are needed in our world. God has made you a unique representative of Himself. Created in His image and likeness you are blessed to be fruitful, productive, and prosperous. You are God’s workmanship. He is proud of you.

Kingdom Declaration:

I am created by God as His workmanship, and therefore He will make me fruitful.

The Powerful Name of Jesus

February 18

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.” Philippians 2:9.

What’s in a name? The power and influence of a name has been emphasized in religious ceremonies, poetry, marketing, branding, and prose. By our name we are recognized and described. God chose to give His Son the name ‘Jesus’. He said of Mary: “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21. His Name describes His purpose.

Jesus is The Preeminent Christ. His attributes are indescribable. His power is undefeatable. His grace is immeasurable. Jesus is called the Savior of the world; the bread of life; the good shepherd; the prince of peace; the Almighty God; the lily of the valley; the bright morning star; the truth and the life; the living way; the resurrection and the life; the chief cornerstone; the Messiah; the Redeemer; the Alpha and the Omega; Healer; the Holy One; the great physician; shepherd of our souls; the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Jesus Christ is all that and more.

His Name is above whatever or whomever is against you. He is always with you, His Name is powerful in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. Believe in the name Jesus and you will be safe, saved, and secure. Pray in the name of Jesus and your prayers will be answered. There is power in the name of Jesus Christ.

Kingdom Declaration:

I believe in the name of Jesus Christ for my salvation, protection, and provision

Faith is more powerful than fear

February 17

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10.

God is encouraging you to turn your fear into faith. Fear can be described as a distressing emotion because it comes with potential danger, pain, evil, negative consequences. Fear is a powerful emotion whether it is real or imagined. Faith on the other hand is described as confident trust in a person or thing. It is based on the character of the person you put your trust in. When you trust in God, you are trusting in His character, power, and reputation to defend and provide for you.

A nine-year old boy was taking his first airline flight when the airplane flew into a severe thunderstorm. He was terribly frightened. Looking at a man sitting beside him, he said, “Aren’t you afraid?” The man could see how the boy was feeling. “No,” he said with a wide grin. “This is really fun.” Immediately the boy’s face changed. Fear and tension left him. He, too, began to have fun. It was like a roller coaster ride. You can turn your fear into faith by being sure of the outcome. God has promised you victory.

If you are going through a storm, remember that it is not permanent. Maintain an attitude of faith. God’s promises to you are: 1) Do not fear (God will protect you). 2) I AM with you (your pilot is in control). 3) Do not be dismayed (God is God even in a storm). 4) I will strengthen you and help you (you will not fall under the pressure). 5) I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (God is holding you. You are safe in His arms).

Kingdom Declaration:

The Lord is my strength and the stronghold of my life. I will not fear.
